Intrinsic Extrinsic Motivation -
Keeping Focus On Your Soccer Dream
Intrinsic extrinsic motivation is
vital if you are going to succeed as
a soccer player.
Here are a few suggestions for to do
to keep your focused on your long
term soccer goals.
1. The most important thing is to write
down exactly "why" you are
playing soccer. If know the why
then everything else will fall into
place. If you feel that you are
slipping or are low on motivation
your "why" for playing soccer
becomes very important.
for example you may play soccer
because of the fun you have with
your teammates or you play soccer
because you want to either get a
scholarship for University or play
at a professional level.
2. Keep a journal and and at the end
of each the day write down three
things that you did well. For
example you could write:"I completed
all my passes in practice today"
3.
Visualize yourself achieving the goal you set out
to get. Beleive it before you "see"
it.
Write down your visualization and
make sure you include all your
senses into this picture: smell,
touch, feel, hear and see. This
separates those who make it and
those who don't!
4.
Believe in Value. you must believe that you a lot offer
both on and off the field. For
example " my speed inspires and
helps my team in every game and
practice"
5. Reference for Ability and Deservedness.
Why do you deserve to reach that
goal? For example you may believe "
I do whatever it takes!"
6.
Act In Spite of... sometimes you must take action or do
something in spite of: feeling
tired, feeling sore or feeling
lost... this is truly a test of
personal growth and the reason you
play soccer.
7. Appreciation and Gratitude. In
order for you to move move forward
in achieving your ultimate soccer
goal you must appreciate what you
already have or achieved. you cannot
take anything for granted!
Intrinsic extrinsic
motivation expands on what you
focus on!
